We invite you to an open #DemocracyDrinks conversation about freedom of speech and media, political neutrality, and transparency in journalism.

April 16th (Wednesday) at 6:30 PM.

Important – this time only, we’re moving to Piano Man bar (Islandijos str. 1, Vilnius).

Register: https://forms.gle/CiQsHLAGgF7XRs7KA

Today, as journalists in Europe increasingly face persecution or political pressure, threatening the quality of public information and democracy, we will together seek answers to: what is the political neutrality of a public broadcaster? is it possible? is it always necessary? is it measurable? how is political neutrality (impartiality) ensured elsewhere in Europe and in Lithuania? and what does the LRT’s political neutrality audit smell like – cinnamon or sulfur?

Insights will be shared and discussed by Aleksandra Ketlerienė, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of LRT.lt and lecturer at the VU Faculty of Communication, and Dr. Karolis Jonutis, Assistant at the VU Faculty of Philosophy, lecturer of the course “Media Ideologies”.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Skirmantas Bikelis, researcher at the Law Institute of the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences.

We are especially pleased that the topic of these #DemocracyDrinks discussions arose from civil society, which cares about these issues. We invite you to meet and seek answers together!

Please note that the event will be held in Lithuanian.
