We have been living in the face of a brutal war for some time, but today, during geopolitical shocks and difficult choices, Lithuanian society is once again under extreme tension. What should we do daily to feel stronger when threats arise?
“It would be great if we weren’t passive observers, didn’t run away from reality, but created it ourselves,” says Col. Ričardas Dumbliauskas, Chief of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
We are delighted that at this #DemocracyDrinks meeting with Col. Ričardas Dumbliauskas, we will be able to openly discuss today’s extremely important questions:
- How to regain a sense of control and take action when anxiety paralyzes?
- How to prepare for day X and act during a disaster?
- What can every citizen do to contribute to the security and survival of the state?
- And what does the Lithuanian military’s wish to the public, “we no longer give way to the fool,” mean?
#DemocracyDrinks is an international initiative offering a networking space for democracy defenders and supporters. Events are already taking place in Zurich, Montreal, Helsinki, Kathmandu, Washington, and others. Vilnius is a city where civil society, activists, business, and the academic community are invited to meet and talk about the state of democracy and its challenges every month. In Vilnius, these meetings will take place on the third Wednesday of every month!
