On 16 May we invite you to take part in a virtual seminar on human trafficking and sex work.

Human trafficking involves the exploitation of individuals through force, fraud, or coercion for various purposes, including forced labor, domestic servitude, and sex trafficking. On the other hand, sex work involves consensual adult individuals exchanging sexual services for money or goods. However, the line between sex work and sex trafficking can be blurred due to various factors such as coercion, manipulation, economic desperation, and lack of viable alternatives. Many individuals who engage in sex work may do so voluntarily, while others may be coerced or forced into it due to circumstances beyond their control. This is where human trafficking comes into play, as traffickers often exploit vulnerabilities and manipulate individuals into the sex trade against their will.

So we will look into the experience of NGOs fighting human trafficking and sexual exploitation and search for answers: how to prevent human trafficking among vulnerable groups? how is sex work regulated in different countries? how to ensure the rights of sex workers and curb trafficking, and how to effectively help victims?

We invite you to ask relevant questions and discuss with other participants from Bulgaria, Slovakia and Lithuania!

This workshop is part of the project “GLOCALIZATION: capacity building platform for civil society leaders from Central and Eastern Europe”. Glocalisation is a concept that describes the relationship between the global and the local in business, politics and civil society, highlighting the importance of combining international development strategies with local action involving local communities.
