Conference “Fear as a Weapon”
October 23 | 10:00 - 13:30
How many alarming headlines have you seen in the past week, and how many of them can you trust?
News about conflict, borders and evacuation reaches everyone living in Lithuania every day. Fear in response to such alerts is not an enemy in itself, since the risks remain real. The problem begins when fear is used as a weapon against us. ❗️
🕵On 17 November, we will come together as an international community at the conference “Fear as a Weapon. How to Stay Informed, Not Afraid, in Anxious Times” to find answers to these questions:
– what signs help distinguish a genuine warning from a panic campaign?
– why do we believe alarming news faster than we believe debunking?
– whom to turn to when you don’t know where the truth lies?
You will see manipulation through the eyes of Ukrainian and Lithuanian experts, hear a panel discussion with representatives of Lithuania’s leading media outlets, get fact-checking tips from experienced journalists, and learn from those who have implemented media literacy projects.
