#DemocracyDrinks: LT Pride and the Human Rights Agenda – Together or Apart?
2024 March 29 | 8:00 - 17:00
The Open Lithuania Foundation and LGL invite you to the fourth #DemocracyDrinks meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 6:30 PM. As always, we will meet at the Piano man bar (Islandijos g. 1, Vilnius).
May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia/Biphobia/Transphobia, so we are dedicating this #DemocracyDrinks meeting to a discussion of LGBT+ rights in Lithuania, ways to achieve positive change and breakthroughs that have already taken place, and historical frames will allow us to look at the history of Pride in Lithuania.
We will invite you to talk and find answers together:
✦ Tolerate, accept, be together? – What is the relationship of Lithuanian society with the LGBT+ community?
✦ What is the situation of LGBT+ human rights and how does the Lithuanian human rights agenda respond to it?
✦ The activities of the project “More Effective Protection of LGBTI Rights by Strengthening Inter-Institutional Cooperation”, funded by the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania, will be discussed at the meeting.

#DemocracyDrinks is an international initiative that offers a networking space for democracy defenders and supporters. Events are already taking place in Zurich, Montreal, Helsinki, Kathmandu, Washington and other cities. Vilnius is the 13th city where every month civil society, activists, business and academic communities are invited to meet and talk about the state of democracy and its challenges. In Vilnius, these meetings will take place on the third Wednesday of each month!
#DemocracyDrinks creates a great opportunity to find like-minded people, discuss ideas circulating in civil society and plan actions, encourages inspiration and fellowship. The events are attended by active people from NGOs, international institutions, think tanks, national governments and representations, academia, public affairs consultancies, social businesses and active citizens.
