New Call for NGOs: Funding for Gender-Based Violence Prevention Projects | Grassroots

Categories: NewsPublished On: 2025 August 06

Non-governmental organizations from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia can receive up to €60,000 in funding for activities aimed at strengthening the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) and improving responses to it. Organizations may carry out advocacy campaigns or informational and educational activities.

This call is open to NGO consortium, with each consortium comprising at least one organization with experience in human rights advocacy, and two smaller regional NGOs.

The call is part of the “Grassroots” program. It aims to fund at least 18 projects, with a total budget of €1.08 million. Applications are open until October 5. The call is being launched simultaneously in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

The “Grassroots” program is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Open Lithuania Foundation, in partnership with the Center for Equality Advancement (Lithuania), the Marta Centre (Latvia), and the Women’s Support and Information Centre (Estonia).

“Civil society plays a vital role in responding to gender-based violence. NGOs are closer to marginalized groups, who often face higher risks of GBV. It is crucial that NGOs take practical steps to shift perceptions of GBV and strengthen its prevention. That is why this call supports practical organizational initiatives focused on advocacy, education, and awareness-raising,” says Marta Gadeikienė, the program’s lead.

Applicants and partner organizations must uphold core EU values—respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, and equality (including gender equality), the rule of law, human rights, and the rights of minorities (based on race, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.). Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated. Applications may be rejected—or funding withdrawn—if it is found that the applicant or its partners do not comply with these principles.

We invite organizations to apply and take action!
