About the program
The VERTA! programme (EU Values LT) strengthened Lithuanian non-governmental organisations working in the fields of human rights, equality, solidarity, and civic and democratic participation between 2023 and 2025.
The programme focused on organisations and projects working with ethnic minorities, migrants and refugees, LGBT+ people, vulnerable women, children, and other groups experiencing social exclusion. It aimed to promote equality and solidarity and to create better conditions for civic and democratic participation.
Particular attention was given to small NGOs and organisations operating in the regions, as well as to national organisations engaged in human rights advocacy. The programme combined organisational capacity building, funding for NGO-led initiatives, and support for cooperation between national and regional civil society organisations.
The VERTA! programme was developed and implemented by the Open Lithuania Foundation. The European Union’s Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme funded it, with a total budget of €2.7 million.

PROJECTS FUNDED BY THE PROGRAMME
WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM UNIQUE?
First, it is tailor-made training specifically designed for the needs and challenges of non-governmental organizations. Up to two representatives from each selected organization will have the opportunity to participate. In the NGO Leaders Academy, professionals in their respective fields will teach participants how to attract funding for their organization, professionally prepare projects, ensure the organization’s financial sustainability, disseminate knowledge, and communicate with the community. The training program will last for 6 months.
Second, it is an opportunity to implement projects in one’s own community, promoting equality, solidarity, and increasing civic and democratic participation. It also provides a platform to share project experiences with similar organizations operating in other regions or at the national level.
Third, it is an opportunity to disseminate knowledge at the national and even international level, strengthen advocacy networks, and gain international experience.
